Crockpot Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 pounds pork roast
  • 12-16 ounces Dr. Pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

 

Directions:

Place the chopped onion in the bottom of the crockpot. Next rub the outside of the roast with salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Then place the roast in the pot. Pour the Dr. Pepper over the pork and add 1 cup BBq sauce. Cook on high 4-5 hours or on low 7-8 hours. The meat will be very tender. Then remove meat from crockpot and drain some of the juices. Now, using 2 forks, shred the pork and place back in the remaining juices. Finally add barbecue sauce to taste. Allow to cook an additional 30-60 minutes if desired.
Notes:You can use and instant pot just cook on manual high pressure for 50 minutes. Natural release for 10 minutes.
